B i o g r a p h y

Yael Front is an emerging conductor based in Berlin, Germany. Originally a native of Israel, between 2013 and 2020, Ms. Front lived and worked in the United States. 

 

Since her arrival in Berlin at the height of the Corona pandemic, Ms. Front has been fortunate to be engaged as a guest and freelance conductor with a variety of European Ensembles, as well as a freelance music arranger and orchestrator, and an in-demand music editor.

 

Ms. Front served as music director and principal conductor of Cincinnati Chamber Opera between 2014-2020. In 2019, she was invited to join Cincinnati Opera as an assistant conductor. That same year, Ms. Front was named Inaugural Conducting Associate with the Defiant Requiem Foundation, a position in which she continues to serve from Germany.

During the 2017-2018 concert season, Ms. Front held the positions of conducting fellow with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and assistant conductor with the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra. That same season, Ms. Front also served as assistant conductor at the Cincinnati Ballet and was chosen to compete in the Solti International Conducting Competition in Budapest, Hungary.

 

In 2015, Ms. Front was selected to take over as music director for the University of Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. During the same year, she was awarded Third Prize in the London Classical Soloists Conducting Competition. In the summer of 2016, Ms. Front served as assistant conductor for both the National Music Festival (MD) and the Atlantic Music Festival (MA).

 

Ms. Front holds Doctor of Musical Arts and Master's degrees in orchestral and operatic conducting from the College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), University of Cincinnati, and a bachelor's from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. She is a recipient of both the International Peace Scholarship from P.E.O. International and a John L. Magro Foundation Scholarship.

 

During the 2022-2023 season, Ms. Front is scheduled to conduct symphonic, operatic, choral, and other works in Europe and the United States.
